the doubles draws at the Us Open, both in women's and mixed doubles.
She will be paired with Arantxa Sanchez Vicario and Rick Leach.
This is going to be Martina's 23rd appearance at the Us Open.

| 08-31 | Martina's début at the
Us Open after five years of absence was successful; in three sets
she and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario won their first round match against
Sabine Appelmans and Linda Wild 5-7 6-2 7-6. Also, for Linda Wild
it was the last match as professional player, as she had decided
to retire after the Us Open. During the game, in the spectacular
scenery of a New Yorker sunset, the public gave Martina and Arantxa
a great support.

| 09-01 | Martina and Rick Leach reached the second round in
mixed doubles by defeating Alexandra Stevenson and Brian McPhie
4-6 6-3 7-6. The match took place in the evening on Louis Armstrong
Stadium, which had been the Us Open Centre Court until 1997. |
| 09-02 | Martina's women's doubles match
opened the evening session on Arthur Ashe Stadium. She became so
the first player to have played in all the three different main
stadiums used for the tournament during the modern era: the West
Side Tennis Club stadium (Forrest Hills), the Louis Armstrong Stadium
(since 1978) and the Arthur Ashe Stadium (inaugurated in 1997).
An umpteenth record for Martina at the Us Open... Martina and Arantxa
won their second round match by defeating American Jennifer Capriati
and Russian Anna Kournikova in two sets, 7-5 6-0. |
| 09-04 | Rain messed up the schedules of
the last two days at the Us Open. Martina and Rick played their
second round mixed doubles match and, unfortunately, they were defeated
in three sets by Anna Kournikova and Max Mirnyi. The score was 6-3
4-6 7-5. |
| 09-05 | After a lot of rain, a wonderful sun shone over the
courts when Martina put an end to her return at the Us Open today.
In their women's doubles third round match she and Arantxa were
defeated by Anke Huber and Barbara Schett 6-3 6-2.
